With the cold Melbourne weather setting into our bones, there is no better place to escape the chills.
I'll admit - It's been a while since I visited.
But lately with the drop in temperatures, I've been missing this little gem. Standing modestly in a cosy city setting, Aunty Franklee has a rich born story of recipes from numerous generations. Heritage is rich in each mouthful, and their postcard styled menu is a reminder of the experiences and travels one has had before this very moment. Fiorn, and her team are nothing but lovely and her Borneo milk tea is the perfect balance of bitter sweetness.
The bak ku teh is a stand out winner. Clean, light; proudly homely - it doesn't stray too far from its roots. There is nothing but humility and love within the food, and the vibrancy in the dishes add a colourful touch to whet the appetite some more. This is the perfect place to visit on a quiet night, or for a late night feed.
A simple reminder to oneself, to embrace who you are.
